Here we are at the New York Auto Show looking at a 1924 Chrysler, which, believe it or not
0:05
is supposed to be the one that debuted at the 1924 New York Auto Show, and here it is
0:11
exactly 100 years later. Don't argue, it's 100 years. This is a beautiful, beautiful car
0:17
amazingly technologically advanced for its time. It's the model E70B because it's basically the
0:24
second triad of Chrysler by the engineering team of Zader, Skelton, and Breer, and it was supposed
0:32
to come out as a Willis, and it eventually showed up as a Maxwell, the Chrysler by Maxwell instead
0:39
of the Chrysler by Willis a few years later, but now having four-wheel hydraulic brakes
0:46
It's really pretty cool that the Chrysler people brought it back to the New York Auto Show
0:50
where it was first unveiled to the world. They started selling them in January 1924 and they were a big hit but they were an even bigger hit the next year and soon the Maxwell was their slow seller and the more expensive Chrysler which competed
1:07
pretty much straight against Buick, but having the same top speed as a Packard Super 8, which is a
1:14
big deal from its six-cylinder engine, and it was a technological tour de force for its time
1:20
It was also supposed to be safe at its top speed, 70 miles per hour, hence the name V70, a car that had better handling than most, despite what you can see is front leap spring suspension
1:36
It was still very, very well engineered. Now, Chrysler is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and you can too with a copy of Century of Chrysler
1:46
This is a book that covers everything from before the Chrysler was even launched in 1924 all the way up to 2025
1:56
So pick up a copy and help celebrate Chrysler's 100th anniversary
