hi this is Dave from motels I'm just
0:03
going to talk a little through this
0:04
parade uh mostly because we had a sound
0:07
truck behind us through the parade which
0:09
kept on playing copyrighted music from
0:12
Whitney Houston and a guy who does Chevy
0:15
commercials so uh YouTube won't really
0:19
let us have that soundtrack on the air
0:21
so to speak so what you're seeing right
0:24
now is an eight-time speed up of the
0:27
Bergenfield New Jersey Memorial Day
0:29
Parade and right now we're just going up
0:31
the hill parade hasn't really started
0:33
well for us the parade hasn't started
0:35
yet but we're going through the staging
0:38
area a lot of different groups here so
0:40
it's taking us a while to clear out so
0:43
Tom is in front of us with that Dodge
0:45
Daytona and the flickering brakes is
0:47
because it's multiplied by eight times
0:50
so every time he Taps the brakes it
0:52
looks like a little flicker so now we're
0:54
making left turn by the school and we're
0:57
off on Prospect
1:00
now parades are a fun thing to do if you
1:02
have a classic car and local car club to
1:06
go with I think most people don't really
1:09
take full advantage uh some of our
1:11
members are more common at parades than
1:15
others and everybody likes you including
1:18
the police officers as you see
1:21
here people are waving people are
1:23
cheering people ask you about your car
1:25
through the open window it's a lot of
1:27
fun I I really don't see why people with
1:31
classic cars don't do it at least once a
1:33
year so in front of us is Tom and his
1:36
Dodge Daytona that's an 80s car which is
1:39
old enough to be a classic at this point
1:42
and in front of Tom is a King and
1:45
that's a fun little 1965 car originally
1:48
came with a one-cylinder engine but the
1:51
owner of this one has uh hopped it up
1:53
it's now got a two-cylinder engine so
1:56
it's more powerful but he still gets 50
1:58
miles per gallon
2:00
so we're going past the high school now
2:02
little stop and go I try to even things
2:05
out I also try to take advantage of
2:07
being in the parade and go through as
2:09
many red lights as I can and as you can
2:11
see I try to go through on the middle of
2:14
the street crossing a double yellow
2:16
because hey when else do you get to do
2:18
it uh you can also see my turn signals
2:21
flickering from time to time that's when
2:22
I put on my hazard
2:24
flashers just for
2:26
fun so a pretty good crowd now it was
2:30
raining before and after the parade so
2:32
we didn't get as many people as we
2:34
usually get normally there's a lot of
2:36
crowds on the street during these
2:38
parades especially uh in Bergenfield
2:40
they have twice a year St Patrick's Day
2:43
and Memorial Day and when we put the
2:46
cars away we'll be taking them back out
2:48
again on July 4th for the July 4th
2:51
parade so there's a couple of towns
2:53
locally that we use those parades so I'm
2:57
recording this although you see that
2:59
there's there's two Mopars in it the one
3:01
I'm filming from and the one in front of
3:02
me uh this is recorded for the restored
3:05
Rusty relics antique auto club which was
3:09
founded in
3:10
1969 and is still going strong 55 years
3:14
later and we participate in parades and
3:17
we have a big show every year and we do
3:20
other
3:21
events that's restored Rusty relics.com
3:25
or rrr nj.com
3:30
but of course if you want to learn more
3:32
about the cars that you see here then
3:34
you would go to motels.com and with that
3:38
I think I'll speed up the action a
3:40
little bit and we'll get through a
3:42
little faster to the end so now we're
3:45
going at 40 times speed and I really
3:48
wish I had that Benny Hill theme music
3:50
here and I know that it's not officially
3:52
called Benny hell theme music and here
3:55
we are the Parade's just about over
3:56
that's the final turn so we're going
3:59
down the class of cars go one way and
4:01
the people go another way so I guess
4:04
it's time to say goodbye we'll see you
4:06
next time
