hi this is Dave from motels and I'm here
0:03
with a little video on replacing your
0:06
engine to body ground strap a handy
0:09
little Gizmo uh if there's a short
0:11
circuit it melts in a Flash and then you
0:13
get to put in a new one ask how I know
0:16
so I'm going to first start by putting
0:18
on my safety
0:20
glasses and then there are two bolts
0:23
here that are different sizes in
0:25
Chrysler's Infinite Wisdom up here on
0:28
top you see a 38 in
0:32
Bolt take that off and
0:36
just this comes it should come right off
0:39
with almost no effort at
0:45
all and then the next one is down here
0:48
and this is a little hard to see because
0:51
you've got on this particular car you've
0:53
got this little resistor so what you can
0:55
do to make this easier to reach is you
0:57
can take off the air cleaner
1:02
[Music]
1:08
and someplace else where it's not
1:11
touching the battery then you can move
1:13
this out of the
1:15
way discover that you need to replace
1:17
that
1:19
grommet and now we switch
1:22
over to a
1:24
916 you could ask why they didn't use a/
1:27
inch to make it even
1:30
or another 3/8
1:33
inch all right so it's nice and
1:38
loose and the wire connector here also
1:40
holds on this little wiring and resistor
1:53
assembly so try not to disturb that
1:55
because it is a pain to get it to line
1:57
right back up again put it new cable and
2:01
keep in mind that these two holes at the
2:03
end of the
2:04
cable are should be a different size
2:07
with one bigger than the other it
2:09
appears that this particular one has
2:11
exactly the same size on both
2:22
ends hoping that any of that was visible
2:25
but you basically just have to line
2:28
up the mount for this little electrical
2:34
thing and snug it up not too
2:43
tight which is one reason I'm using this
2:46
teeny weeny little
2:48
one so I don't overtighten
2:54
it all
2:56
right we just have this one come up
3:00
right over
3:02
there it always helps to put the screws
3:04
where you can find them I might need to
3:07
end up using a washer for this because
3:10
the company that made it is not supposed
3:13
to make this opening quite so large yet
3:15
I'm going to have to end up adding a
3:17
washer but for the
3:19
moment let's just snug it on with our 38
3:27
in just for illustration
3:39
so that's basically
3:41
it I've got one more step here because
3:44
people who made this particular cable
3:46
did not make the holes the size that
3:48
they were supposed to but other than
3:51
that it should work just fine so now
3:53
I've actually had a chance to do it
3:55
properly and you can see there it is
3:57
with the washer it looks perfectly
3:59
natural making better electrical contact
4:01
you should do what I'm going to do which
4:03
is actually bring this back get one
4:05
that's properly fitted for the car and
4:08
use that as for the rest when you put
4:11
back the air cleaner here uh make sure
4:13
that all the hoses that go into it are
4:16
correctly put in I've got a bit of an
4:18
oil leak coming out of here and that's
4:21
because the grommet seems to have shrunk
4:22
a bit since it was put in this is very
4:25
loose play so I'm going to have to
4:27
replace that as well
