Mistakes I made, mistakes I didn’t make, and a vague note of what’s coming up. Watch me start a 1974 Valiant in one try if you want ;)

hi this is Dave and I've been doing
0:01
these videos uh I also run mot tales.com
0:05
which has text and pictures and I just
0:07
wanted answer a couple of questions and
0:09
concerns about articles that have been
0:11
up here I'm sorry videos that have been
0:13
up here new thing for me so uh first of
0:17
all on the diesel slant 6 yes I got a
0:19
lot of criticism for making two big
0:22
mistakes uh one of them is that yes
0:24
indeed there is more energy in diesel
0:27
fuel than in gasoline
0:30
I was trying to say that diesel engines
0:32
normally have a lower horsepower output
0:34
than equivalently sized gasoline engines
0:37
isn't what I said so I apologize but I
0:40
can't go back and change it because of
0:41
the way YouTube works and I can't even
0:43
go back in and put in a disclaimer much
0:46
as I would like to so it's in the
0:47
description of the video now but I can't
0:49
change the actual video and the other
0:52
statement was that I accidentally read
0:56
uh newton meters as nanometers uh but
0:59
obviously I did mean newton meters since
1:02
nanometers are a unit of length that are
1:05
very small so I apologize for that screw
1:07
up I do know what a Newton meter is I
1:09
also know what a nanometer is I just
1:11
can't go back and fix it which would
1:13
have been nice on the Valiant uh most of
1:17
the criticism that I got on that one was
1:19
for the initial video where I'm starting
1:22
up the car and two things happen one of
1:24
them is I realize that my phone is more
1:26
sensitive than my ears and yes I am
1:28
re-engaging the starter before it
1:31
finishes
1:34
going and so I no longer do that I now
1:38
put in a couple of seconds after the
1:40
noise has completely dropped off as far
1:42
as I can tell the second thing is that
1:44
the reason why it is so hard starting at
1:47
first is because the fuel in the
1:49
carburetor evaporates and it's got to
1:51
get that fuel up via the mechanical fuel
1:54
pump I do know how to start up the car
1:56
and if it's been running the last couple
1:58
of days and there's some fuel avail in
2:00
the fuel lines and the carburetor it
2:01
will start up pretty quickly with a
2:03
couple of quick cranks and I don't have
2:05
to go w w w w all day here I am again
2:08
I'm back in the car this time I'm on the
2:10
correct side of the car which is always
2:12
nice and I'm going to start the engine
2:18
Place obviously that includes all of the
2:21
county and there we
2:24
go and there we go starts right up
2:26
although the radio was on too
2:33
let's see now just to uh prove a
2:37
point let's try it again with the radio
2:42
off Tada beautiful quick start I've done
2:47
a bunch of videos so it's not that bad a
2:50
record and I'd like to thank you all for
2:52
being understanding and going on with me
2:54
in the future I'm going to be working on
2:56
improving the audio and getting new
2:58
topics and new people in involved Pete
3:01
Do's demonstration on axles is just the
3:04
start we're going to do more interviews
3:07
and those should be coming in the next
3:08
week so please stay tuned
