hi I'm Dave and I wanted to talk a
0:02
little bit about Trenton engine and what
0:04
they made and when they made it I talk
0:06
about will be model Years starting with
0:08
1957 when they made fewer than 10,000
0:10
engines uh before this and Mound Road
0:14
opened up they made all the engines at
0:16
the factories and now they centralized
0:18
it 1958 they managed to multiply that by
0:22
10 times they're up to 100,000 but they
0:24
didn't reach their stride until 1959
0:26
when they made nearly 200,000 V8s but
0:30
then there were some big changes and
0:32
that was adding the slant 6 in 1960 and
0:35
the slant 6 in its first year had over
0:38
400,000 made at Trenton engine which
0:42
dwarfed the fewer than 180,000 V8s and
0:46
was double the plant's previous
0:48
production just for sixes and that
0:50
continued with roughly 400,000 made for
0:53
the next two years V8 stayed under
0:55
200,000 until 63 when V8s went over uh
0:59
200 100,000 but the slant 6 went to half
1:02
a million so the graph shows you with
1:05
the V8s in Orange and the slant 6's in
1:08
green how Chrysler fared from year to
1:10
year and how Trenton fared two great
1:12
years 1968 and 69 and then things don't
1:16
do as well and finally we get the
1:18
Volkswagen 1.7 for the Omni and Horizon
1:22
it was just a stop Gap until the 2.2
1:25
which you see in purple and the 2.5
1:27
which you see in dark purple push
1:29
pushing all those Reliance and minivans
1:32
and Aries and omnis and Horizons and all
1:34
the other ones around so there is a
1:37
little history of Trenton until 1990 and
1:40
of course then the V6 came in and
1:42
Trenton got a new lease on life and it
1:45
is still making gobs and gobs of pentar
1:48
V6 engines high quality uh very durable
1:52
nice output staying true to their
1:55
history as the Builders of excellent
1:58
engines
